Nelly Elmenshawy is an advisor to the Alkaram Institute. She graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies and a BS in Public Health. She lived in the Muslim world for fifteen years, during which time her focus was on raising her children and teaching. Since returning to her native United States, she has shifted her focus to working with teens and writing children’s books. Nelly serves as an advisor to the Sabeel Community, a service organization whose main objectives include religious literacy, spiritual self-development and the building of positive relationships. Her focus is on local and international programming for the organization.
