The Alkaram Institute is a nonprofit research and educational institution dedicated to advancing Islamic psychology to benefit society and improve lives. We do this by conducting research, publishing scholarly works, and offering educational programs. Alkaram is an Arabic word that means generosity and is one of the core values of the institution.
An outgrowth of the Al-Karam Lab for Islamic Psychology, the Alkaram Institute was formally established in November, 2018. An institution with a global reach, we are located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia.
Our goal is to become the first Muslim graduate school of psychology in the United States – an accredited degree granting institution of higher education that trains tomorrow’s Muslim professionals in research and applied domains of psychology at both masters and doctoral levels.
To advance the field of Islamic psychology through research and education.
To become the first accredited Muslim graduate school of psychology in the United States – a mainstream institution of higher education that produces God-conscious individuals of excellence whose work advances psychological science, benefits society, and improves lives.
